Milan Fashion Week 2021: Max Mara’s collection for Fall Winter 2021
The show running on day 2 of Milano Fashion Week 2021 has an important meaning for Max Mara. With the Fall Winter Collection, the brand celebrates its 70th anniversary, paying homage to the strength and determination of the women who inspired Achille Maramotti since the brand was established, in 1951.
Such qualities, worth of queens and warriors, are translated into the runway with an imaginary royal parade of triumphant princesses on a festive day. Mixing British flair and Italian taste, the young Max Mara queen brings into the city the colors and scents of the English moors through a string of functional outerwear pieces like the “thornproof” jackets, crafted from super-soft alpaca and featuring utility pockets, or the new oversized bomber, to round out any kind of look. Camel, the brand’s signature fabric, is used for quilted jackets worn with a kilt, thick socks and sturdy shoes. The appeal of the “very British” touch is also visible in details such as graphic tartans, velvet patches, organza jabots and oversized Aran sweaters.
The fashion film directed by Jonathan Emma exclusively for Vogue, featuring the looks of the new Fall Winter 2021 2022 Max Mara collection, expresses through images the joyful dynamism of Max Mara’s 70th anniversary collection. A few moments after the end of the show, some of the models, still filled with excitement right off the runway and caught in a moment of absolute freedom, assert what it means to be a young woman in Max Mara’s world, as they move to conquer the spaces of the show.
Amandine, Jits and Mao are strong and determined women, showing the same qualities which had inspired the Reggio Emilia entrepreneur 70 years ago, and definitely do not back down when they need to show the world what they’re made of. Sporting the looks from Max Mara their endeavor is easier, making them feel exactly like those queens on a festive day.
